Lodge Farm Barn

Set within the rolling landscape on the edge of Bath, this project began as something quietly forgotten, a dilapidated, unused barn with little more than its bones remaining.

What followed was a complete transformation

Natural materials were at the heart of this build.

Rather than importing new, the team worked with what was already there. Stone was carefully excavated from the surrounding land, cleaned by hand, and reintroduced into the structure, forming walls that feel as though they’ve always belonged. There’s a quiet honesty in that process. Nothing forced. Nothing overdone.

The result is a home that sits effortlessly within its setting.

Internally, the space has been opened entirely. A large, open-plan living area now defines the heart of the home, where volume, light, and flow take precedence. Double-height ceilings and considered glazing allow natural light to move freely through the property, shifting throughout the day and softening the rawness of the original structure.

This is a two-bedroom home, but scale is never compromised. Each room has been designed with intention — balancing modern living with the integrity of the original barn. Clean lines sit alongside textured stone. Contemporary finishes contrast against traditional form.

It’s not about erasing the past, it’s about refining it.

A structure once left to fade has been reimagined into a modern, expansive home. Rooted in its surroundings, built from its own land, and designed to last.

A quiet statement in the landscape of Bath.
